An extremely idealistic film on showing children how to grow a vegtable garden. Voice overs of children are poorly done. I, personally, found the narrator inflection overblown.

Honestly, this isn't all that funny. The kids are indeed voiced over (sounds like by the same young woman), and then it just sort of spirals off into dullness. The voice-over isn't at all present during the bulk of the film, which is mostly about mildly challenging gardening - none of the pests pose much more than a light nuisance, as opposed to entire crop failures (watch young Billy spray lead arsenate on leaves with no protective gear!). Not all that fun.

Learn that phrase. After you hear the reading of it that gives new meaning to the word "flat," you'll hear it in your head for days, and still chuckle at it.
Completely insane film about children who suddenly become obsessed with planting a garden, planning it out, buy the seed, tilling the soil, spraying the bugs, watering it, harvesting it. this is in constrast to reality, where children must be threatened with physical violence in order to half heartedly weed it once a week. Great, crazy stuff.

In probably one of my most favorite dry Encyclopedia Brittanica film, We follow Billy and Betsy as they grow a garden. The kids, who are voiced over BADLY, suspiciously sounding like actors twice their age, devise a plan to plant a vegetable garden. Their parents are all for this idea.. "I like Pumpkin Pie" says Dad. Hmmmm. They make a plan with a "Mr. Allen" (no idea who this man is) for their garden and Mr. Allen "promised to lend money for seed." Uh, why arent the parents buying the kids the seed? Mr Allen also " has told Bill to keep a record of expenses". It's soon evident that a) the parents don't know how to plant a garden, or B) they don't give a hoot. But no matter, for Billy and Betsy grow the most phenomenal garden imaginable, with Corn! Pumpkins! Radishes! and Tomatoes! But wait! There are Tomato worms on the plant! "Bill decides that he, and not the worm will win this time" LMAO! Soon, the kids and the parents are all enjoying oven roasted corn (made by the kids of course). Mmm mmm good! A total screwball classic, and a MUST SEE on this site!
